An environmental inspector and construction worker with experience in projects throughout the United States, Michael “Mike” Stermitz has built his career around contract-based assignments involving environmental compliance for wind farms, natural gas and oil pipelines, and solar energy projects. Michael Stermitz began his career in wildlife biology, where he gained early experience with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks as a fisheries technician, and later as a game warden. Over time, his work expanded to include environmental inspection and compliance roles with tribal organizations, state departments, and private projects. His responsibilities have included stormwater inspections, wetland delineations, water sampling, wildlife surveys, and due diligence reviews connected to energy infrastructure projects.
Mr. Stermitz holds a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology from the University of Montana, an associate degree in environmental technology from Montana Tech, and training in law enforcement from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy. He funded his education through various seasonal jobs, including working with the U.S. National Park Service in Yellowstone. His professional history also includes recognition through a governor’s citation for bravery.
